Youth in Nyaza District have been urged to join in the fight against trade and consumption of narcotics and illicit brew. Launching a one-week campaign against drugs at College du Christ Roi-Nyanza in Busasamana Sector, Amb. Valens Munyabagisha, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Security appealed to the youth to desist from illegal and criminal acts such as drug abuse and gender violence. He also asked the public not to get in contact with any suspicious objects and report them to nearby security organs to dispose them of. The district mayor, Abdallah Murenzi, said the exercise is aimed at educating the youth about the dangers of drug abuse. The event, that included testimonies of former drug addicts, was attended by students, local leaders and residents. The week-long exercise will be conducted in various schools in the district.
