BELGIAN Luc Eymael has expressed interest to manage Rwanda national men’s football team (Amavubi), a few weeks before the contract with reigning coach Eric Nshimiyimana comes to a climax. Speaking on a local radio talk show on Tuesday, Eymael said, “I would be interested to coach Amavubi,” “When my contract expires with Rayon Sports, we will see about it. But of course, who would not want to manage Amavubi. We all need good offers, I am ready to handle the team but I want to first finish my job here in Nyanza,” “And it’s not only Rwanda, there are so many offers elsewhere with either national teams and clubs but at the moment, what matters is that am still attached to Rayon Sports.” Eymael who has managed Kenya’s AFC Leopards, AS Vita of DR Congo, Missile FC of Gabon and MC Oran of Algeria is among several coaches who are reported to be eyeing Amavubi coaching post ahead of the 2015 Morocco Afcon qualifiers. The other coaches include former Philipian head coach German Hans Michael Weiss, former Amavubi coaches Croatian Tucak Branko and Serbian Ratomir Dujkovic, former APR Dutch coach Rene Feller and former Rayon Sports and current Coton Sport French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa and former Malawi tactician Belgian Tom Saintfiet. Nshimiyimana’s one-year contract expires in a fortnight and he is yet to receive any information about whether he would be offered a new deal, along with his assistant Jean Baptiste Kayiranga, goalkeeping coach Ibrahim Mugisha, team doctors Nuhu Assuman and Moussa Hakizimana. Meanwhile, Ferwafa said recently that they are in no rush to discuss the issue as they have other more urgent matters to deal with first. Under Nshimiyimana, who replaced Milutin Micho Sredjovic in March last year, Amavubi has managed just two wins, three draws and lost seven matches.
