Wednesday, September 6 Game 1 REG Vs APR, 7pm Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and APR women's basketball clubs are again set to lock horns in the finals of the women’s basketball league, with Game 1 slated for Wednesday, September 6. For the past three years, REG has dominated women's basketball, winning the title back-to-back since 2021, while APR last won it in 2019. REG reached the finals after beating IPRC-Huye 3-0 in the best of five semi-finals, while APR brushed The Hoops aside in a similar win record. The finals will be played in a best-of-seven series. With REG chasing their fourth championship in a row, team skipper Sandrine Mushikiwabo said that ‘every game matters’ and called one her teammates to stay focused ahead of the finals. “Every game matters in the series, and a good start matters. We are going into Game 1 aiming for a positive beginning. We beat APR in last year’s finals, and we can do it again, Mushikiwabo told Times Sport on Monday, September 4. We just need to have a winning mentality and mean serious business like we did during the 2022/23 season,” she added. Game 1 in women’s finals will take place before the same sides (REG and APR) rub shoulders in Game 3 of men’s finals. The two sides have already played two games of their best of seven series, which both ended in APR’s favor.
