Entrepreneurship campaign kicks off

The Entrepreneurship Caravan 2014 has kicked off with a call on the youth to be job-creators. The campaign, code named “Business Opportunities on the Move”, aims at promoting entrepreneurial skills among the youth, especially students in institutions of higher learning. The drive is being organised by Educat, an entrepreneurship support not-for-profit organisation, and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in collaboration with Airtel and GT Bank. “We want this drive to inspire the youth of Rwanda to take action and become job-creators from an early age,” Apollo Munanura, the head of human capital and institutional development at RDB, said while addressing students at the Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA) in Kigali yesterday. The caravan will traverse the country, visiting institutions of higher learning in Kigali, and Nyagatare, Musanze and Rubavu districts on its two-week journey that ends on March 31. Andreas Norlem, the Educat boss, is hopeful the caravan will inspire many youth to become entrepreneurs. “We want to make sure that the youth are aware of all the possibilities out there; that is what the caravan is all about; boosting entrepreneurship in the country,” he said. The drive targets over 6,000 youth, according to Johanne Møller, the communications consultant at Educat.
