Global stars name baby gorillas at ‘Kwita Izina’ ceremony Last week, Rwanda held its signature conservation event, the Gorilla Naming Ceremony, known locally as Kwita Izina, in which the country’s conservation efforts are recognized globally. It was the 19th time the country was naming newborn gorillas, where 23 baby gorillas born in the last 12 months were given names. Hosted at the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park in Kinigi, Musanze, the event normally attracts the big names in every industry, including conservation champions, celebrities, leaders, sports legends as well as ordinary people. This year, global celebs including the likes of Comedian Kevin Hart, Idris Elba, former NBA player Joakim Noah, Musician Asa, actor Winston Duke and many others named baby gorillas at this year’s Kwita Izina ceremony. Prince Kid weds Miss Elsa Iradukunda On Friday September 1, a renowned business man in Rwanda’s entertainment industry popularly known as Prince Kid married Miss Rwanda 2017 Elsa Iradukunda in a colorful ceremony considered by many as the most noteworthy event in Rwanda's showbiz industry since producer Clement and musician Knowless Butera. The wedding, which was held at Intare conference Arena was attended by top celebrities including Platini P, Masamba Intore and Mariya Yohani, socialite Kate Bashabe, Miss Rwanda 2018 Liliane Iradukunda, Miss Rwanda 2019 Meghan Nimwiza, and Prince Kid’s long-time friend Joseph Mushyoma alias Bubu all who graced the colourful ceremony. Bubu, a renowned businessman in the music industry, was the groom’s best man. Christopher in the US for music tour Christopher Muneza, popularly known as Christopher, last week left Rwanda for the US where he is expected to perform in six states as part of his US tour slated for September. Christopher is scheduled to perform in Portland, Louisville on September 9 and Phoenix on September 23. Other cities might be added on the tour if discussions with the organizers go in the right direction. Christopher Muneza rose to stardom after releasing a number of hits such as ‘Iri Joro’, which ensured his breakthrough, ‘Habona’, ‘Babyumva’, ‘Ndabyemeye’, ‘Agatima’, ‘Urubavu’, and many others.
