The national volleyball league has been put on hold until after the forthcoming East African inter-school competitions due to be held here in Kigali. Gertrude Kubwimana, the executive secretary of the local volleyball federation, FRVB confirmed the league’s suspension and its return date of September 6. She said that the league has been affected since schools closed for holiday as well as the preparations for the East African schools’ competitions. “The league is mostly comprised of school teams and they are on holiday so we can’t continue without them,” she said. Kubwimana further disclosed that the ministry of Education in conjunction with the schools’ sports federation are organizing a one-day tournament this Saturday in Nyanza, Southern Province aimed at preparing the local schools that will represent the country in the regional games. The hosts, Rwanda will be represented by Group Scholarie de Kabgayi, Christ Roi, G. S Butare, APEDI Rwaza and St. Joseph Kabgayi. G.S. Kabgayi are the East African schools’ volleyball defending champions while Christ Roi are the local inter-schools’ defending champions. Ends
