Rwandan goalkeeper Maxime Kali Wenssens has joined Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Union Saint Gilloise as a free agent. Wenssens, 21, has been without a club for a year since he parted ways with KV Mechelen in the Summer of 2022. The shot stopper signed a one-year contract with Gilloise with an option for extension at the end of the season. ALSO READ: Four young Rwandan Goalkeepers in Europe Amavubi can rely on The agile goalkeeper was born in Belgium to a Belgian father and a Rwandan mother but he is yet to play international football for either of the two countries. After a scouting done by Times Sport, former Amavubi coach Carlos Alos Ferrer approached the player in an attempt to interest him in representing Rwanda for where the coach had a warm reception. The goalkeeper, however, could not honour his invitation as he was yet to take a decision on his international future. Wenssens previously played for the youth team of Sint-Truidense.
