Students share experiences through stories

Thirty Girls have undergone successful training on how to express themselves through story telling. During the training that started on Monday, 30 girls shared their experiences about life through story telling. Ayla Schlosser, the director of Resonate Organisation, said the training which runs till tomorrow at Akilah Institute for Women in Kibagabaga in Gasabo district, explores the importance and power derived from storytelling and coaches girls how to narrate their stories in order to improve the plight of the girl-child. Resonate is an organisation that is focused on livelihood and skill building by incorporating narrative-based leadership training into existing organisations. Ayla said under such circumstances, participants develop stories that represent who they are, connect to the shared experiences of communities and help one to build allies or raise funds, forge partnerships, inspire others or organise communities. Ayla said the project will be rolled out to the whole country and Africa in general. Shaka frank the head teacher of Essa Nyarugunga said that this is going to increase effectiveness among teachers.
