Editor, REFERENCE IS made to Allan Brian Ssenyonga’s article, “When Kagame and Uhuru led by example” (Sunday Times, February 23). In matters of corruption, when a certain person talks of “change in mindset”, they know what they are talking about. It won’t be easy for some countries in the East African Community (EAC) to understand that the bloc’s interests should always come before individual ones. But if some countries have tried and so far succeeded (the case of Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda), why can’t others also try (I mean Burundi and Tanzania)? Of course, it won’t be easy: there will be some price to pay for that. Let’s hope “they will not stop trying to change their mindset”, unless they have another alternative to grow the economies and gain dignity. Amin Ndikumana, France
