Editor, REFER TO Adam Kyamatare’s article, “Are we looking wrongly at inequality?” (The New Times, February 10). I wonder if the author really believes in what he wrote, when he said; “Governments’ role should be to increase the opportunities for individuals to attain that same wealth.” If the US, Japan, Germany, U.K., France, etc., cannot provide opportunities for every single citizen to become rich, I don’t see another country that can do it in this 21st century, not even in the 22nd century. There is no doubt that humans are good in setting expectations; however, there are things that fall into the category of utopia. In other words, politicians or theorists should not keep lying to people that they will create paradise on planet earth where all individuals will be rich. Of course, poor people get rich, but all people cannot be rich at the same time. Inequality is part of the law of nature. Eddy Chiko, Baltimore,United States
