More Police officers depart for Ivory Coast

A contingent of 11 Rwanda police officers will today leave for a one-year peacekeeping mission under the the United Nations Operation in Ivory Coast (UNOCI). The contingent is led by Chief Supt. Gerald Ntare. During a pre-deployment briefing at the Rwanda National Police headquarters in Kacyiru yesterday, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza, challenged the officers to make good use of their policing experience to help bring about peace in Ivory Coast. Munyuza urged them to uphold the Rwanda National Police’s core values and doctrines and be good ambassadors during their spell in the West African nation. He asked them to raise the county’s flag high by acting professionally. The Police component in Ivory Coast is headed by a Rwandan, Commissioner of Police Vianney Nshimiyimana. The Rwanda Police peacekeepers have been recognised in various missions for acting professionally and executing their mission effectively. There are currently about 600 Rwandan Police officers in the eight peacekeeping missions around the world.
