RWANDA SENIOR national volleyball team has been boosted with the arrival of Algeria-based duo of Christopher Mukunzi (El Fanar) and Lawrence Yakan Guma (ESS). The experienced pair jetted in the country on Saturday and went straight to the team’s training camp ahead of the final round of the 2014 FIVB World Championships qualifiers, slated for February 12-18 in Cameroon. Paul Bitok’s team beat visiting Botswana 3-0 on Sunday at Amahoro indoor stadium. The hosts won 25-21, 25-19 and 25-19. It was the third meeting between the two nations after Rwanda won the first two matches in Gaborone 3-1 and 3-0 last weekend. In Cameroon, Rwanda will be up against Algeria, Nigeria, Gabon and the hosts Cameroon. The team will depart for Cameroon on February 11. Rwanda will play the other warm up games against APR on Wednesday and on Friday they will meet new league entrants Rayon Sports before crowning off the preparations with a game against a selected side (All Stars team) on Saturday at Amahoro indoor stadium.
