RWANDA’S national volleyball team won their first of four international friendly matches on Saturday against Botswana, at Otse Police College in Gaborone.This was the team’s first game in a series of buildup matches ahead of the 2014 FIVB World Cup final qualifying round due next month in Cameroon.Rwanda triumphed 3-1 (23-25, 25 -22, 25-18, 25-14) and by press time Paul Bitok’s side were looking to make it two straight wins against their hosts – as the second game was still underway.Rwanda targets to win one of the three slots for the world championships when they face hosts Cameroon, Algeria, Nigeria and Gabon in of three Pools.From Gaborone, the team will return to Kigali during which time they will play two return matches against Botswana.After the Botswana games in Kigali, the Rwanda national team will then embark on their journey to Cameroon, but with a stop in Kenya where they will play the national team on February 4; and then Kenyan clubs Prisons and GSU on February 6 and on February 8.
