Fifa donates kits to league clubs

The world football governing body Fifa has donated football equipments worth 30,000 Euros (about Frw25, 473,382) to first division clubs. The Umbro equipment that includes 140 balls, 252 pairs of football boots, 84 gloves, 252 shin-guards, and 280 cons was presented to Ferwafa officials by Fifa technical director Jean Michel Benezet on Friday in a press conference held at Ferwafa head quarters, Remera. Benezet said, “The equipment will help in solving the problem of lack of training kits that many of your first divisions clubs are faced with.” As part of professionalizing the national league, Fifa is set to professionalize the issuing of licenses of all players featuring in the top flight league. Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said that the kits will be distributed to all local clubs. Kalisa who was grateful to Fifa for their undying support towards the elevation of football standards in the country urged local clubs to put the kits to better use. In a related development, the national league favorite Atraco landed next year’s African club championship spot after a goalless draw against Rayon Sport on Friday at Muhanga stadium. Atraco who lead the national league table with 51 points, two points ahead of defending champions APR must win the remaining two fixtures against Military and Kiyovu to represent Rwanda in next year’s African Champions League. However, rivals APR who stand second on the league table with 49 points and is already assured a continental slot after winning the Peace cup. On the other hand wins for APR in the remaining fixtures against Rayon Sport and Mukura sees the military side represent Rwanda in the African Champions League leaving the taxi-men to feature in Caf ‘s second graded Confederation Cup. Rayon return to action tomorrow against relegation threatened Etincelles at Mironko grounds. Ends
