Rwanda’s five-player team will be looking to better outing when the first leg of the ITF East Africa 18 and Under junior tennis championships kicks off today at the Nairobi Club in Kenya.Chantal Mutuyimana [U-14 girls], Fabrice Tuyishime [U-14 boys], Oliva Tuyisenge [U-16 girls] and Ernest Habiyambere [U-16 boys] qualified for the annual tournament, while Brian Ndahiro [U-14 boys] received wild card after the CAT East African championship held in Tanzania early this month. The tournament has attracted 100 players from around the world with 34 countries set to take part. The countries include; Russia, Sweden, South Africa, Italy, Britain, Poland, Egypt, USA, Belgium, India, Iran, Turkey, Belarus, Taipei, France, Croatia, Burundi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Spain, Israel, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Romania, China, Thailand, Serbia, Zimbabwe, Philippines, Mauritius, Pakistan and hosts Kenya.The tournament is supported by the International Tennis Federation development Fund. It is one of the several, similar circuits in the ITF Series hosted by different countries. The circuits enable players to accumulate ITF world ranking points. The qualifying matches are due today while the main draw events will kick off on Sunday. The finals will be played on January 31.
