RCA’s Charles Haba believes that Rwanda will reap big from Kato Sebbaale’s recent appointment as Africa Cricket Association executive director for the East African region. In a letter addressed to Sebbaale from the ACA Chief Executive Officer Cassim Suliman, the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) chairman is also charged with the duty of monitoring the development coordinator with regards to operations pertaining to cricket development within the region as well as addressing all cricket matters within the Affiliates of the region. “This is very good for Rwanda. RCA and UCA are already enjoying a good relationship but this has spiced up the whole thing,” Haba reckoned. During a recent tour to Kigali by Uganda’s veteran cricketers, Sebbaale highlighted that one of his priorities was to uplift Rwanda to her neighbors (Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania)’s standards. While Rwanda is still ranked as an ICC affiliate country, Uganda and Tanzania boast of ICC associate status while Kenya is even a class better with her ICC One Day International (ODI) status. The ODI is only second to ICC’s Test status. Africa boasts of one test playing nation and three ODI nations. South Africa which is ranked second after Australia is the only African test playing nation while Africa’s ODI list involves Zimbabwe, Kenya and South Africa. Ends
