DAY 3-LEADERBOARDG. Ayella 75 70 74 219D. Onyango 76 77 71 224B. Toolit 76 76 73 225J. Baptiste 82 78 68 228G. Olayo 77 80 77 234 A solid four-under-par 72 on Day three of the Uganda Professional Golfers Association (UPGA) qualification tournament kept Jean Baptist Hakizimana’s hopes of securing a professional berth alive. And going into yesterday’s final round, the Rwandan ace had to play two-under par to achieve his dream. Hakizimana, who is sponsored by MTN, had a rugged start in the four-day tournament after erratic scores of 82 and 78 on the first two days but Wednesday’s 68 pulled him back into contention. Uganda’s top amateurs Gerald Ayella and Dennis Onyango are also still within the qualification cut despite scores of 74 and 71 respectively on Day three. By press time yesterday, the duo were required to return aggregates of seven over to consequently make the professional cut that has been set at +12. Heading into the final round, Ayella still topped the aggregate leader board with (219). The top quartet also had Onyango (224), Toolit (225) and Hakizimana (228). Ends
