NORTHERN PROVINCE RULINDO — A total of 12 best performing girls in last years’ national ‘A’ Level exams have completed a three-week course in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The training was organised by Imbuto Foundation, a brain child of the First Lady Jeanette Kagame. The girls drawn from across the Provinces completed the training on Wednesday at Tumba College of Technology. Immaculate Mirenge, who represented the First Lady at the function, reaffirmed Imbuto Foundation’s commitment to uplifting girl’s education. “This training in ICT and other courses for best performing girls in national examinations will continue taking place countrywide to uplift girl’s education,” said Mirenge. She urged the girls to pass on the acquired skills to others.Pascal Gatabazi, the principle of Tumba College said the students showed commitment and hard work during their training. “These girls are bright and will be good future engineers,” said Gatabazi. Hital Muraj of CISCO, an innovative global education initiative that delivers ICT, which provided the training, said CISCO will continue working with the Rwandan government to enhance ICT training in the country. “Educating a girl is educating a nation,” said Muraj. Each of the girls was awarded two certificates in ICT, one from Tumba College of Technology and another from CISCO Networking Academy. Ends
