Umubano Blue Tigers (UBT) have made a come back to compete in the 2014 national volleyball league after a five-year absence, head coach Elie Mutabazi has said. The former National University of Rwanda, APR and national team setter was quick to note that his team will use only Rwandan players.UBT was founded in 1999 but pulled out of the league in 2009 due to financial constraints. However, Mutabazi believes the club is now financially stable to get back on board.“We have a mixture of young and experienced players, who I believe would help the team to reach the top level in the league,” he told Times Sport on Tuesday. He added, “It’s only our first season back in the league. We need to build a firm foundation on and off the court so that we don’t encounter the same problems as those that forced the team to withdraw from the league five years ago.”The team started training last Sunday at the National Paralympic Committee gymnasium at Amahotro stadium in Remera.Players in camp include; Cesar Rubayita, Kangabo Benjamin, Mandela Gahire Eric Mbonigaba, Charles Habonimana, Gedeon Mutabazi, Jean Paul Mutabazi, Peter Yoakim, Peter Ngirimana, Alain Ngoga, Peter Kamasa, Selemani Nsengumuremyi, Kamana, Happy Igor, Alain Mahame, Fred Kibaya and Bosco Ntihemuka.According to the coach, the team is also in talks to sign Rwandan international centre Marshal Kwizera from INATEK—he is currently training with UBT.The league is scheduled to start next month and end before September. Each team will be allowed to field only two foreign players.
