While others were decorating Christmas trees and lighting up candles, Kigali Serena Hotel decided to light up the future of 150 vulnerable children.Children were called on to write their wishes and those who wrote what matches with education were given what they requested for.Among the things given to students were school shoes, books, towels, blankets among others. The Country Manager, Kigali Serena Hotel Charles Mwaya said during the Christmas season, the hotel decided to look for such children and find a way of helping them.“We decided to light up the lives of vulnerable children instead of decorating the Christmas tree for the season as is often the case,” he said.He said that, the hotel decided to use the funds for decoration towards a bright and beautiful lighting up of hundreds of young lives with love.“We requested hundreds of children to write which gift would make them glow during the season and their wishes each as a bright star,” he added.Children wished many things others aeroplane, cars, books, mattresses, houses among others.Joy Umulisa the Project Manager Christian Assembly Nyarutarama appreciated the support given to such children by the hotel. “These are children whose parents either died or they are HIV positive and are vulnerable, the support given to them is highly appreciated,” she saidThe children come from different parts and schools and the selection was done from sector level.
