SC Kiyovu close to Girukwishaka brothers swoop

SC Kiyovu are planning to complete the signing of two brothers, namely 18-year-old winger Jean Marie Girukwishaka and his elder brother, Michel Girukwishaka, 22, in the coming days after the midseason transfer window opened on January 1. Head Coach Gilbert Yaoundé Kanyankore, who managed the Rwandan pair during his time at Burundian giants Vital’O last season, is confident the pair will feature for the Mumena-based side in the league second round. According to the veteran coach, the Girukwishaka brothers’ arrival at Kiyovu is almost a done deal with only a few details yet to be sorted out. “Everything else has been settled but the boys are yet to get their Rwandan national identity cards,” Kanyankore noted. “They are Rwandans who have been staying in Burundi, that’s why they didn’t have the IDs.” Kanyankore also said that, in addition to the duo, he needs to sign another two players ahead of the second round. “If we can get all these players, I think we will have a really good squad to compete for trophies, we are looking at other targets in local teams,” the former Rayon Sports and Vital’O coach told Times Sport this week. The Green Baggies are in seventh position on the log with 22 points, six points behind leaders Rayon Sports but with a game in hand – which they will play this Saturday against second-placed APR FC.
