Welcome to the New Year. The year 2013 is behind us.It’s time to be thankful to God for keeping you safe in the past year and to seek His grace and guidance in 2014.It’s also time to reflect, an opportunity to take stock of the past 12 months, look back at where you were at the 2013 dawn, where you are today and where you want to be 12 months from now. It’s also that time of the year to set new targets, resolutions of the year and get started implementing them now. A year is long enough to achieve something meaningful at personal, community and national level. If you are a farmer, how productive was 2013? If you are a businessperson, how did your business fare over the past year? If you are a civil servant or student, teacher or leader how did you go about your responsibilities and which areas need improvement for better results this year? What lessons did we all learn in 2013 that can help make 2014 a more rewarding year?Similarly, as a nation, the onset of the New Year is an opportunity to assess our performance in different areas with a view to improve further and right the past wrongs for better results.Last year, Rwanda’s economy maintained its strong performance trend–growing at more than 6 per cent– but we can still do better than this.Through the Agaciro Development Fund, Rwandans were able to raise more than Rwf20 billion for our self-reliance cause, but we can raise the bar and mobilise more funds this year.If each one of us played their rightful role, together, we can take this country places. We can deliver the development agenda we have rolled out and go on to dream and achieve even bigger things.Let’s roll up our sleeps now and make it happen.A prosperous New Year to you all.
