Touch someone’s life this Christmas

It’s Christmas – that day when millions around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ a little more than 2000 years ago. It’s time to celebrate and make merry. But as we make merry, eat and celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us reflect on our lives, especially what we are doing to make the world a better place.Let this be the time to touch someone’s life. Let everyone be a messenger of joy and happiness. Let’s remember those that are suffering in one way or another and try to ease their pain in any way we can.Visiting and sharing Christmas with the sick, the hungry, the disadvantaged, refugees, and the abandoned could be some of the ways we can celebrate this day more meaningfully. Let’s share with them the joy that comes with this day. A gift or any other act of kindness can put a smile on someone’s face.Let Christmas be a day to support Jesus’ mission for mankind.Let’s mark the birth of Jesus by spreading the happiness, promise and hope He brings forth. Yes, many will go to their respective places of worship, eat and drink all types of foods and beverages, and dance, but that’s not enough.This should also be a moment of reflection; it is an opportunity to examine ourselves. Christmas reminds us of the values and kindness that characterised Jesus’ life. Do we endevour to follow his example? This is a question everyone should be asking themselves as we come to a close of 2013 and prepare to usher in the New Year.As we celebrate, let’s reflect on what Christmas really means to us as our brother’s keeper.Needless to say don’t drink and drive. And remember to spend sparingly for there’s always another day.Merry Christmas!
