On August 12, Top 10 contestants were selected to progress to the next stage of Mützig Amabeats DJ competition during a ceremony that took place at the new Shooters Lounge. Here is what we know about the 10 contestants of the competition. DJ Montag Real name: Janvier Dushimimana, Age: 23 Residence: Kigali-Gasaba-Kinyinya-Rukingo Experience: 4 years What inspired you to never stop starting? I always feel the need to jump on new things. I think that what people can do, I myself can also do it, which is why I will never stop starting because I really love what I do and every time I play music I feel good. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mützig Amabeats DJ Competition? There will always be many but hopefully the competition will change my life experience even if I cannot win the competition but it will help build more confidence, and I believe that I will do better. DJ Illest Real name: Bizimana Elie Age: 24 Residence: Nyarutarama Experience: 6 years What inspired you to never stop starting? I'm encouraged by the statement that failure does not tell the future, and therefore, I’m never discouraged to go back on what I have set my mind on. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mützig Amabeats DJ Competition? I hope to become an international DJ at some point in my life where I can also be a mentor of the generation of DJs coming after me. DJ Noodlot Real name: Byiringiro Jules Destin Age: 25 Residence: Kigali, Nyarugenge, Nyamirambo Experience: 6 years What inspired you to never stop starting? I love what I do and I can't stop until I get where I want to be. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mutzig Amabeats DJ Competition? Creating a hub for DJs so that they can learn from each other. DJ Lenzo Real name: Kubwayo Lenzo Age: 32 Residence: Kicukiro, Niboye Experience: 9 years What inspired you to never stop starting? I’m inspired by the limitless potential of music and the thrill of continuous growth and exploration What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mützig Amabeats DJ Competition? I hope to play at iconic venues, travel the world and share my love for music with diverse audiences, collaborating with other talented artistes and keep chasing my dreams. DJ Bhura Real name: Gerard Migisha Age: 20 Residence: Kigali, Remera Experience: 5 years What inspired you to never stop starting? I believe in myself, I’m unique enough, and I love investing in my passion when I’m using my blessed hands. My own analysis proves that there are few Rwandan DJs who can stand confident on the stages outside Rwanda and serve amazingly. This makes me work unstoppable to step where our outgoing DJs didn’t step. I have a desire that I, the new pioneer, will put Rwanda’s DJ industry to a level where we can be proud. I’m fresh to impact. Not copying from anyone, but learning from everyone. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mutzig Amabeats DJ Competition? I rocked my mind with the saying “There’s no limit”. I mean, there’s no stopping after starting. After Mutzig Amabeats, I want to attend the DMC DJ championships. DMC is an annual world DJ competition championship hosted by Disco Mix Club (DMC) which began in 1985. This will be the continuation of my starting. My intentions are not to just attend DMC, but to be the first Rwandan DJ DMC champion. This will put Rwanda’s music to a higher level, and open the mind of the new generation to not get afraid of starting. DJ KayG Age: 26 Residence: Kigali, Gikondo Experience: 7 years What inspired you to never stop starting? The love and passion for the craft fueled me throughout the journey What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mützig Amabeats DJ Competition? With Mützig Amabeats there’ll be added credibility to be better equipped to push the culture.Move forward in djing by working with international music companies and Visit Rwanda. To train and inspire more DJs, as well as build and curate the talent pool of DJs and producers in Rwanda. To create a record label and collaborate with local and regional artists to help get our music. To be heard internationally, other than that, just going around the world to play music. DJ Kavori Real name: Antipa Komezusenge Age: 24 Residence: Kigali, Kacyiru Experience: 4 years What inspired you to never stop starting? There are three things that kept me going, first is the music passion, second I like to be self-reliant, and lastly I want to give my young brothers and sisters inspiration that can be useful in their daily lives. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mutzig Amabeats DJ Competition ? To be the best DJ in Africa representing Rwanda and it will be a way of reaching my goals in giving the young generation an example to look up to. DJ Dallas Real name: Abdallah Nkurunziza Age: 23 Residence: Kigali, Nyarugenge Experience: 3 years What inspired you to never stop starting? Because I love djing, working hard and want to show my family that what I decided will work for me. I hope that someday it will get me where I never expected to be. I will never stop starting. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mützig DJ Competition? Being an International DJ and making a lot of money. DJ YOLO Real name: Alain Victor Dufitumuremyi Age: 26 Residence: Kigali, Nyarugenge Experience: 9 years. What inspired you to never stop starting? A dream to become a Superstar. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mützig Amabeats DJ Competition? Beyond Mützig Amabeats,I aspire to elevate my artistry, perfom at renowned venues, collaborate with talented artists, and spread joy to the people through my music. OZ The DJ Real name: Senghol Karyango Sangwa Age: 22 Residence: Musanze, Northern Province Experience: 8 years What inspired you to never stop starting? I never stopped due to my dedication to music. It is my hobby and besides, it's what I do for a living. What are your hopes/aspirations beyond the Mützig Amabeats DJ Competition? Mützig Amabeats DJ competition is one of the biggest opportunity for deejays which rates your level and provides motivation in this career. I took this opportunity and attended so that I can win this competition and raise my brand, mentality, and level of skills. I want to take my career beyond so that I can attend big international competitions.
