VETERAN midfielder Djabir Mutarambirwa has been appointed the assistant coach of Police FC, Times Sport has learnt. The appointment follows a recent shake up by the law enforcers which saw assistant coach Jean Paul Kalisa and two players; Abouba Nshimiyimana and Yahaya Ugirumurengera facing the axe last month. According to the club chairman, Louis Twahirwa Dodo, Mutarambirwa was taken on board as an assistant coach and they believe former team-mates will respect him to be able execute his new role. “We have chosen him as our assistant coach. He fits well in our structure and we hope this would be a good opportunity for him to develop his coaching career working together with the coach Sam Ssimbwa who knows football very well,” said Mutarambirwa. Police hosts Amagaju at Kicukiro turf on Sunday in the tenth round of the Turbo King league. Mutarambirwa started his role when Police beat Rayon Sports to win the maiden Ombudsman Cup last Sunday. Police lie in seventh position on the league standings with 14 points, seven behind leaders AS Kigali after nine rounds of matches.
