APR, Kiyovu clash shifted to Sunday

The match was initially set to be played on December 21 but after Amavubi’s exit from the Cecafa Challenge Cup in Nairobi, Ferwafa found it suitable to bring closer all matches to Saturday and Sunday. However, as SC Kiyovu prepared for the Saturday’s clash, APR requested for the game to be postponed so as to enable their players rest since they make a bigger representation on the national team. The request was heard and Ferwafa pushed the game 24 hours ahead. But now SC Kiyovu who were not involved in the decision making are disgruntled by the fact that the match has been pushed to Sunday, yet the club had scheduled an annual general assembly on the same day. Ally Mbarushimana, one of the committee members said, “We alerted Ferwafa that we can’t play on Sunday because of the scheduled general assembly but its unfortunate that they have given us a deaf ear,” “We initially prepared for this assembly after consulting with Ferwafa since there were no matches scheduled on that day and they don’t have any genuine reason why the game has been shifted to Sunday from Saturday,” “We have also requested them to put the game in the afternoon but they have vehemently refused and went on to say that if we don’t honour the game, they will fine us,” said Mbarushimana, adding that they are yet to come up with a final decision. Efforts to reach Ferwafa’s Secretary General Michel Gasingwa proved futile as he failed to return or pick our repeated calls. Other matches due on Sunday include; defending champion Rayon Sport facing visitors Marines at Stade de Kigali, Mukura locking horns against visitors Musanze at Kamena stadium while Police will host Amagaju at Kicukiro turf and Nyamagabe based team will be without striker Yumba Kaite. On Saturday, Etincelles will host league leaders, AS Kigali at Umuganda, the league leaders will go on field without one of the key players Mohamed Kabula, who was suspended for two yellow cards. Host Esperance without Fiston Buzizi Rwigema will face AS Muhanga at Mumena stadium while Gicumbi will host Espoir at Gicumbi turf, Emmanuel Ruremesha’s side will be without Makini Munyeshyaka while Jean Baptist Kayiranga will be without Selman Harelimana. AS Kigali maintains the lead at the summit of the Turbo League standings with 21 points while newcomers Esperance sit bottom of the table with four points after nine matches played so far.
