The world’s largest selling swimwear brand, Speedo has been confirmed as the official dresser of the national team swimmers in this year’s Beijing Olympic Games set for August 8-24 in China. Speedo is the swimwear manufacturer of products for both recreational and competitive swimming. The Chef de Mission for the Rwandan delegation Thierry Ntwali told Times Sport yesterday that Rwanda reached an agreement with Speedo, an Australia-based company to manufacture swimming costumes for Olympic swimmers. He noted that Speedo was not chosen because it dresses even world renowned professional and recreational athletes in many water sports but due to the fact that it’s the most people’s preferred choice in competitive swimming. Speedo which is claimed to be the world’s fastest swimsuit will be used by USA eight-Olympic medal Michael Phelps at this year’s Games. Rwanda’s swimmers Pamela Girimbabazi and Jackson Niyomugabo will be among several international stars putting on Speedo brand at the two-week long global event. In a related development, Ntwali leaves today for China in advance to prepare Rwanda’s arrival at the Beijing Olympics athletes’ village, which opened yesterday. During the Aug. 8-24 Games, the village will be home of about 16, 000 athletes and officials. Ends
