A RwandAir flight from Dubai yesterday morning overshot the runway while landing at Kigali International Airport during heavy rains. Operations at the airport were temporarily disrupted as passengers in the Boeing 737-800NG were safely evacuated and officials of the airline said no one was injured. The plane was carrying over 60 passengers. “All passengers were disembarked normally, and now the aircraft is in the hanger for checkup. Operations at the airport are back to normal,” read a statement from the firm yesterday. It noted that there was no apparent damage to the aircraft This is the second runway incident the airline has reported this year. RwandAir, with a proven safety record, has a total fleet of seven aircrafts which consist of four Boeing 737 series and one Bombardier Dash-200 series and two new Bombardier CRJ-900 airplanes operating a total of 16 destinations.
