African Volleyball governing body (CAVB) has chosen Rwanda to host the 2013 Africa Volleyball Congress slated for December 7-8 at the Kigali Serena Hotel.According to the national Volleyball Federation Secretary General, Christian Hatumimana, Rwanda was picked ahead of Cote d’Ivoire and Democratic Republic of Congo, who had also shown interest in hosting the two-day meeting. He said, “They (CAVB delegation) came here to assess our facilities and see if we are capable after which they made the decision, we are proud to host such an important congress on top of hosting the Subzone and Zone V qualifying tournaments.”“We believe that this is another opportunity for Rwanda to prove that we are more than capable of hosting international events,” said the former APR volleyball club player.He said the Organising Committee will arrive in the country on December 5 and the other delegations will be in Kigali the next day for the event, which brings together the sport’s top governing officials from all African federations.It will be four days after the conclusion of the Zone V Qualifiers. Meanwhile, FRVB continue the preparations of hosting the Zone V World Championship Qualifiers, slated for November 25 to December 1. The tournament will attract five countries including Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, African giants Egypt and the hosts, Rwanda.
