Dear Editor, Surely if we are to refer to our country as an ICT hub in the next few years then we MUST start by using computers in our big institutions such as Hospitals. Recently, I took my patient to Kigali Central Hospital (CHUK) but the lines we went through in order to clear payments are extremely alarming. First, it is only one person attending to a big number and for some reason he (cashier) kept on sending us to another department since we were in such big numbers that department also sent us back! It was like some sort of game. This makes me wonder whether or not some people could delay to get services as a result of delayed payments. Calculations take an unbelievably long time because a big hospital like this one still operates with adding machines or small calculators. Seriously, computers should be installed to make payments easier and also government should ensure that people who have fully recovered (out-patients) and want to clear, use different payment points than those who come in with patients.
