Recently, the World Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction was held on July, 2-4 in Sendai City, Japan. The Conference was about how to build resilient societies and to mainstream disaster risk reduction at the local, national, and regional levels.

In a rare act of bipartisanship, the United States Congress recently passed legislation to encourage more inward foreign direct investment. Democrats and Republicans agree that FDI, or “insourcing,” is important to US jobs and competitiveness. They are right.
