SEVENTY-FIVE RWANDANS who have been living in various parts of DR Congo as refugees have returned home.They are grouped in 31 families and most of them have spent nearly 20 years in refugee camps, having left Rwanda during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.Some of the returnees said they were happy to be back home after a long time out.They also said they were being targeted by Congolese militia groups that are hunting down Rwandan citizens in DR Congo.Pelousse Nsabumuremyi, who has been living in Masisi since 1994, and hails from Musanze District, said she was excited to be back home."It was a dark period I have been in. Now that I’m home, I am hopeful that my life will change, I will take up farming as I used to do,” she said.Straton Kamanzi, the manager of Nkamira transit centre, said the refugees were given basic materials such as foodstuff to take them for three months as they resettle.
