A regional company, VK Auto, has launched its operations to begin selling affordable motorcycles across the country. VK Auto is a branch of Dubai Auto Garage, which is the umbrella body that distributes Indian-made Bajaj motorcycles across Africa. The company launched its operations in Kigali yesterday.Three main models, popularly known as Boxers, will be sold in Rwanda, and, according to the management of VK Auto, they consume less fuel than most motorcycles on the market. "The Bajaj Boxer type is cost-effective and has more space than the normal motorcycles. Our target goes beyond those who can use them in the city; we are looking at those in the rural areas who need a strong motorcycle that can carry goods and consumes less fuel,” Jennifer Mwijukye, the managing director of VK Auto, said."They are affordable. We shall also target to work with banks and cooperatives in order to facilitate those who may need to get them on hire purchase or through loans.”VK Auto will operate as a sole Bajaj dealer, with headquarters at Prestige Building in Kicukiro District, as well as partner with existing motorcycle dealers, Verma Group and Sotramirwa.
