Amavubi Stars skipper Olivier Karekezi is hoping for a change in fortune for his Norwegian club Ham Kam whose recent form has seen them struggle in the Tippeligaen league relegation zone.
Through an e-mail to Times Sport yesterday, the 25-year-old said that he’s looking forward to his team overturning its recent poor form as they seek to avoid relegation.
"We have had some bad spells, which have seen us fail to attain maximum points for a long time,” Karekezi admitted.
Ham Kam are bottom of the Norwegian first division league having managed a paltry nine points from 13 league fixtures.
The former APR star also noted that despite his team struggling at the wrong end of the table, he’s actually enjoying his own form, which he said is the most important part of his footballing life.
He added, "As a team, we must improve our current poor form and hope for better things in the remaining first round fixtures as well as the second round.”
Karekezi has made seven appearances for his club since his transfer from Swedish side Helsingborg, scoring one goal.
His solitary goal came at the weekend unfortunately Ham Kam lost to rivals Rosenberg 2-1.
Stabaek leads the league with 28 points from 14 matches while Ham Kam’s next opponents this weekend, Lillestrom are on 13th position with 12 points.
Karekezi is Amavubi’s most influential player as Rwanda seeks to reach the 2010 World/Africa Cup finals.
