TEAM RWANDA trainer Jonathan Boyer has picked 15 riders who will feature for ‘Team Akagera’, ‘Team Muhabura’ and ‘Team Kalisimbi’ in the 2013 Tour du Rwanda scheduled from November 17-24.
TEAM RWANDA trainer Jonathan Boyer has picked 15 riders who will feature for ‘Team Akagera’, ‘Team Muhabura’ and ‘Team Kalisimbi’ in the 2013 Tour du Rwanda scheduled from November 17-24. According to Rwanda Cycling Federation (Ferwacy), the teams were named after intensive preparations which have been going on at their training centre in Musanze. The riders are currently fine-tuning their talents ahead of this year’s edition of the Tour due Rwanda.Rwanda will enter three teams, each with five riders.Nathan Byukusenge, Janvier Hadi, Abraham Ruhumuriza, Bonaventure Uwizeyimana and Jean Bosco Nsengiyumva form ‘Team Karisimbi’.‘Team Akagera’ comprises of Hategeka Gasore, Emile Bintunimana, Valens Ndayisenga, Hassan Rukundo and Joseph Biziyaremye, while Team Murabura is composed of Innocent ‘Rocky’ Uwamungu (captain), Jeremy Karegeya, Patrick Byukensenge, Theoneste Karasira and Aime Mupenzi.Rwanda’s top rider Adrien Niyonshuti, who has returned to competitive cycling after almost nine months out with Deep Vein Thrombosis – the formation of a blood clot (thrombus) in a deep vein predominantly in the legs – will feature for his South African side Samsung MTN Qhubeka.Other teams expected to take part in the 2013 Tour du Rwanda edition include; UCI Continental Centre (South Africa), Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Algeria, Gabon, DR Congo, Team As Be Co of Eritrea, Novo Nordisk (USA), Team Avia Crabbe (Belgium) and Rhone Alpes (France).Niyonshuti finished 9th in 894.8km race during the 2012 edition which was won by Lill Daren from Team South Africa.
