KERALA HUNTERS surged into semi-finals after edging Challengers CC in the ongoing Zaaffran & Blueberry Hotel T20 league on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket ground.Sreenish Kunnarikal’s explosive batting took the game as Kerala Hunters repeated history. He scored 7 fours and 6 sixes on his way to 78 runs. "I am very happy for this performance and hope to keep it up as the tournament progresses,” said a happy Sreenish, who was named man of the match.Earlier in the first innings, Challengers had posted a seemingly high score of 179/6 in 20 overs, but Kerala Hunters chased it down with 4 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand.Subhasis Samal and Ahmed Farishta were the biggest contributors for Challengers with 65 and 46, respectively. Victory for Kerala Hunters made them the only team in Group B that has qualified for the semi finals so far. The second team will be known when Challengers play Kigali CC on November 17. In the women’s category, Queens of Victory CC beat Kigali Angels CC by just 11 runs on Saturday. The tightly contested game became particularly interesting when KACC’s star batter Egidia Uwimana (45 runs) was caught at a time they needed only 21 runs from two overs. "I was very happy getting her wicket because she would have won the game for them,” said a joyful Raphael Ganimana, who in the first innings scored her career best 50 runs not out to help QVCC to a total score of 115.The contest is now between Charity CC and QVCC who have one win each and whoever wins their second game will join White Clouds CC for the final.
