Poor turn-up for ID photography

The turn up for the National ID photography in Kibungo sector was low on the first day of the exercise, on Wednesday.

According to officials, by Thursday morning, the second day of the exercise, not more than 6,000 of 17, 041 residents had turned up for the exercise.

Officials said that in Karembo Sector, by the same time on Thursday, about 6,000 residents out of a total of 7,044 had already had their photos taken.

The sector Executive Secretary told The New Times that the exercise was going on smoothly and it would end by the day.

In Mugesera Sector, the exercise also attracted a modest number of residents on day one on Wednesday. Officials said that out of 12,469 people, over 6,000 had had their photos taken.

About 163,178 were registered in the whole district. The exercise that is expected to end Saturday is continuing in Kayonza, Rwamagana and Gatsibo, before winding up in Nyagatare district.
