Samantha Ghislaine Uwase was on Saturday night announced the winner of the Miss College of Business and Economics (CBE), formerly known as the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), 2014, in a tightly contested beauty pageant.Uwase, 19, beat seven other contestants to win the title, replacing last year’s winner Elsie Grace Ingabire.
Samantha Ghislaine Uwase was on Saturday night announced the winner of the Miss College of Business and Economics (CBE), formerly known as the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), 2014, in a tightly contested beauty pageant.Uwase, 19, beat seven other contestants to win the title, replacing last year’s winner Elsie Grace Ingabire.The crowning event, which attracted hundreds of CBE students, staff and several guests, was held at the institution’s auditorium in Gikondo, Kigali.The official in charge of culture at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Lauren Makuza, was the chief guest at the colourful ceremony.The new beauty queen walked away with a cash prize of Rwf100,000, a certificate and the honorary title of CBE ambassador. She will also have a one-year scholarship and free accommodation during her tenure.Uwase will also get a one-year package of selected beauty products from Sulfo Rwanda Industries and Simba Supermarket."I am lucky to have finally made it because it has been my dream to become Miss CBE. I will use my title to advocate better welfare of the people and represent my college accordingly,” Uwase said.Fabiola Fernandes Akazuba and Amandine Isimbi were the first and second runners-up, respectively.Akazuba and Isimbi also walked away with Rwf100,000 cash prize and certificates. They will also get beauty products from Sulfo Rwanda for one year free accommodation at school.Amandine Isimbi took the Miss Photogenic while Olga Bahizi Uwase took Miss Congeniality, with Arlete Irakoze winning Miss Popularity. They received Rwf30, 000 each as well as products from Simba Supermarket and Sulfo Rwanda.Peace Uwera, who became Miss Elegant got a cash prize of Rwf60,000, including Rwf30,000 for participation, and got products from Sulfo and Simba Supermarket.Questions to test the intelligence of the girls were asked in English and French. The contestants seemed confident and comfortably answered all questions, impressing judges.The audience was also impressive and if the mood in the house was anything to go by, Uwase was deservedly crowed Miss CEB 2014.The event was graced by various local musicians including Knowless, Uncle Austin, Ricky Password, Active and Riderman. The event was jointly organised by Rwanda Inspiration Back Ltd and the school and was co-sponsored by Simba Supermarket, Sulfo Rwanda and Ian BoutiqueThe event started at 7:00pm and ended at 11:00 pm.
