Imbuto Foundation, in partnership with Liquid Telecom, yesterday distributed 200 solar lamps to the Foundation’s project beneficiaries, as well as members of the Bugesera community. Bugesera is a rural district in eastern Rwanda where most of the people don't have access to electricity yet.
The solar lamps were handed over on Thursday at a function attended by Nic Rudnic, CEO of Liquid Telecom, Sam Nkusi, Chairman of Liquid Telecom Rwanda, Constantin Rukundo, coordinator of the Association of Genocide Survivors Students (AERG) and Radegonde Ndejuru, Director-General in the Office of the First Lady.
Liquid Telecom, through Aheza Project, supports Imbuto Foundation to empower youth to reach their full potential. Aheza project targets 200 young survivors of the Genocide in Bugesera, Huye, Nyanza and Rwamagana districts.
The aim of the project is to equip young Genocide survivors with professional and life skills. This is done through relevant training on work readiness, income-generating activities, cooperative management, information and communications technology and trauma resilience.
