Young entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to undergo training in business management abroad thanks to a new deal between Educat, an entrepreneurship support NGO, and KLM Airlines.Andreas Norlem, the Educat chief executive officer, said the programme aims at training small-and-medium enterprises operators in basic accounting, bookkeeping and financial management to help them run businesses profitably. The six-month programme will see over 100 SME operators travel free of charge to any destination on KLM global network to study under the real business accelerator programme run by Educat."This project is of interest to KLM...by the time a youth completes studies and gets the initiative to start a business, it shows boldness and great zeal. "That’s why we want to support them so that they acquire skills on how to manage businesses better,” said Pauline Kariuki, the KLM Rwanda sales manager. She said it is important to build on Rwanda’s skills base, noting that small-and-medium businesses are the backbone of the economy.Meanwhile, Educat will soon start a drive to encourage youth across the country to set up income generating projects and improve their standards of living.
