Rwanda Olympics team has received a major boost from international kit maker Puma who provided kits for the August 8-24 Games in Beijing, China.

Chef de Mission for Rwanda’s Beijing bound delegation Thierry Ntwali told Times Sport on Tuesday that the National Olympics Committee has already received the kit.

"Puma have finished preparing the uniforms for the Olympics team and the kit has already been shipped to Beijing,” Ntwali said.

However, Puma which is known for producing sports equipment, didn’t prepare th kit for the swimmers. The kit Puma made is for the able-bodied athletics and the Paralympics team.

But Ntwali noted that the swimmers kit will be ordered from Australia and it will be ready before the Games start on August 8.

The Puma kit includes shorts, briefs, warm-up jackets, Polo T-shirts, split shorts, singlet, casuals and ‘official’ T-shirts.
The local Olympic Committee entered an agreement with kit manufacturers, PUMA, to dress the national team last year.

The samples are in Rwanda’s traditional yellow tops and blue bottoms with green and yellow strips running down on the right hand sides.

Puma was the official kit sponsors for Rwanda’s long distance athlete Dieudonne Disi before he jumped ship to sign for rival Adidas early this year after a two-year contract expired last December.

Dieudonné Disi (10.000m), Epiphanie Nyirabarame (marathon), Pamela Girimbabazi and Jackson Niyomugabo (swimming) are the only athletics who have qualified for the Games.

The 2004 Athens bronze medalist Jean de Dieu Nkundabera (800m) is the lone athlete who will take part in the Paralympics Games due from September 6-17 in Beijing.
