Norrsken features world’s 100 most promising impact startups at Times Square

Norrsken, a global nonprofit foundation that supports entrepreneurs, is showcasing the top 100 most promising impact startups on the screens of Times Square, New York.

In collaboration with the global technology firm Nasdaq, the foundation, which boasts a hub in Kigali, presents the startups with "mind-blowing” solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges through their annual list known as "Impact/100."

Norrsken&039;s definition of impact revolves around the concept of driving significant and quantifiable progress towards one or more of the United Nations' global development goals.

According to the foundation, the essence of "Impact/100" lies in its ability to invigorate, uplift, and provide a positive source of inspiration. It also serves as a reminder that, despite moments of adversity, there are "better” role models who deserve praise and acknowledgment.

The startups listed span various categories, including construction, energy, agriculture, healthcare, climatetech, foodtech, fintech, internet and connectivity, materials, recycling, transportation, insurtech, education, sustainability, and water.

Among them is Zipline, a company specialising in on-demand drone delivery and instant logistics. It initiated its operations in Rwanda back in 2016, primarily delivering essential medical supplies, including medicine and blood, to remote rural areas.

The African startups on the list total four, namely: Apollo Agriculture and Kapu from Kenya, along with Curacel and Sunfi from Nigeria.

The top 100 most promising impact startups featured on Impact/100 - 2023 were chosen from a pool of over 700 nominations. The jury will select one winner, while another will be determined through a public vote.
