South Korea is ready to play a pivotal role in Rwanda’s socio-economic development in the framework of EDPRS 2, Soon Taik Hwanga, the South Korean ambassador to Rwanda said on Saturday.The envoy was speaking at an event aimed at celebrating the Korean traditional music and contemporary dance, is one of the events organised to mark 50 years of cooperation between Rwanda and South Korea."Korea believes that now is the right time for the two countries to continue supporting each other. We will continue our support for Rwanda in its development journey”.Investiment opportunities Speaking at the event that attracted dozens of Koreans living in Rwanda, the Minister for Sports and Culture, Protais Mitali, noted that Rwanda presents investment opportunities which Koreans must exploit.He hailed the government of South Korea for their support towards Rwanda’s cultural and economic development."Our bilateral relations can be reflected in the achievements both countries have made; now is the time to evaluate what has happened to both countries for the past 50 years. Rwanda has already achieved some of the MDGs; however, a lot more investments need to be made.”Early this year, Rwanda’s ICT Ministry and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA signed a MoU to facilitate a multi-million dollar ICT Innovation Centre upgrade project.The construction will begin in 2014 and be completed in 30 months.The country recently signed a partnership deal with South Korea’s largest telecom company, Korea Telecom (KT), to establish a joint venture that will build and operate ICT services in the country.
