Right Guards and Indorwa booked their place in the semi-final of the 2013 Zaaffran & Blueberry Hotel T20 cricket league after winning their Group A matches on Sunday at Kicukiro Oval.

Right Guards 173/5 in 20 overs beat Impala Titans 109/5 in 20 overs by 64 runs with Joshua Mwanja (77 runs) and Eugene Haragirimana’s (36 runs) combining a total score of 81 runs to help their team recover from an early collapse of 3/17.

Impala Titan’s veteran player Emmanuel Byiringiro, who made 48 runs said, "We lost early wickets which built too much pressure on our batsmen and failed to build partnerships.”

In the day’s first match, Indorwa captain Mihir Solanki put up a man of the match performance with both ball and bat to help his team secure a place in the last four after beating Telugu CC by 84 runs. He scored 52 runs not out, took 1 wicket and took 2 catches.

Eric Ndangamyambi was the only outstanding Telugu bowler with 2 wickets and 24 runs. Shiva Samba made 36 runs but it was not enough to get them past Indorwa’s total score of 223/7.

In the women’s category, White Clouds got back their winning ways after beating Charity CC on Saturday. White Clouds won the toss and elected to bat and posted 112/6 in 15 overs.

Betty Mukunzi and Veronique Iriho made 26 runs and 20 runs respectively.

Cathia Uwamahoro’s 59 runs were not sufficient to save Charity as all the other batters went out cheaply. Pacifique Nyirandorimana (3/09) did the greatest damage to Charity batters.

Right Guards and Indorwa, who qualified from Group A, will know their semi-final opponents after Group B’s matches will be decided next weekend when Challengers meet Kerala Hunters.
