The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has finally agreed to host Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars in an international friendly on November 15 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The development was confirmed yesterday by Amavubi coach Eric Nshimiyimana.
"Uganda has officially responded to our request for a friendly match on November 15. We have the official letter confirming the match and we will begin preparations after the eighth round of the Turbo King Football League which ends on November 10,” he said.
He noted, "This will be a good test for our team to prepare for the Cecafa Challenge Cup due to be held in Nairobi, later in that month.”
Initially, the match was scheduled to be played mid last month but Uganda decided not to have the game because of logistical difficulties.
In the first friendly match played in Kigali in February between the two sides, the Cranes and Amavubi settled for a 2-2 draw. Uganda Cranes are now coached by Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, the man who was at the helm of Amavubi Stars during the last friendly in Kigali.
Last month, the Cranes also had two international friendly matches against Egypt that they lost 2-0 and 3-0 respectively.
