Rwanda earned $7.73m (Rwf5.09b) from coffee exports last month, up from $5.83m (Rwf3.84b) in August, statistics from the National Agricultural Export Board indicates.  This translates into a 32.6 per cent monthly increase.

Rwanda earned $7.73m (Rwf5.09b) from coffee exports last month, up from $5.83m (Rwf3.84b) in August, statistics from the National Agricultural Export Board indicates.  This translates into a 32.6 per cent monthly increase.Over 2,560 tonnes were produced last month compared to the 2,393 tonnes in August.Celestin Gatarayiha, head of coffee division said the rise in revenues was expected as September and October are high exporting months.Rwanda earned $60.9m from coffee last year, which was an 18.4 per cent decline compared to the $74.6m earned in 2011.    The coffee sector is targeting to generate $157m from exports by 2017, compared to $87m expected from the targeted 24,000 tonnes of the crop this year.
