Rwanda has been named the host country for the 84th Interpol General Assembly in 2015.The country was unanimously voted during the 82nd Interpol General Assembly in Cartagena De Indias, Colombia, which ran from Monday and ended yesterday, according to CSP Nepo Mbonyumuvunyi, the director of Interpol Rwanda. Rwanda will be the 5th African country to host the Interpol General Assembly after Senegal in 1992, Egypt in 1998, Cameroon in 2002, and Morocco in 2007.Interpol was formed 100 years ago, Interpol is the second biggest world organisation composed of 190 countries after the United Nations with a mission to connect all Police Institutions worldwide for a safer world. "It’s expected that more than 1,000 delegates from all member states, private and public partners and other delegates from national and international organisation will attend,” said a statement received by The New Times.Previously, Rwanda was also appointed to the Interpol Executive Committee in 2011 during the 80th Interpol General Assembly in Hanoi, Vietnam, with a delegate to represent Africa at Interpol General Secretariat (IPSG). "Interpol 82nd AGM to vote for Rwanda to host the 84th Interpol AGM is a clear manifestation of trust that international community has for Rwanda within international cooperation regime,” Mbonyumuvunyi said.
