Rwanda Amateur boxing association, Raba has confirmed September 23 as the date for the inter-clubs competitions.
The championship, according to Eugene Ndashyikirwa, Raba Secretary General, is intended to merge and bring out the best from all local boxing clubs.
"We expect a thrilling competition when these clubs clash. But the event will also act as a testing tool for our level one coaches who are fresh from a level one course,” Ndashyikirwa noted.
The competition will be staged at Amahoro indoor stadium and Kimisagara, Rafiki, Panafrique, Remera and Inkuba are some of the clubs that are certain to take part in the one-day event.
The event is open to both categories (men and women) and there is free entrance for spectators.
"We expect a big crowd to turn up because the event is free. We want to popularize the sport,” the official said.
"In future, we would like to invite all EAC countries and DRC in a bout for promoting competition in the region which is also in the interest of the boxing Confederation,” he continued. Fair construction, Inyange and Kigali city sponsored the 2000 event.
