Police in Gasabo District Friday recovered the body of a child that drowned in a pond near a construction site.  

The 9-year-old, residents say, was playing around the pond before he slipped in. The body was taken to Kacyiru hospital for postmortem as investigations continue to establish more details surrounding the death.  

Central Region Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Urbain Mwiseneza appealed to parents to keep a close watch over their children.
