AS Kigali ended APR’s perfect start to the 2013/13 Turbo King Football League season with a 1-0 win in a match played on Saturday at Stade de Kigali.

Striker Amini Mwizerwa scored the lone goal for Andrew Gasambungo team in the 53rd minutes after poor defending by center back Ismail Nshutinamagara ‘Kodo’.

It was however the hosts, APR, who dominated the first half without threatening AS Kigali goal and the loss leaves the league without any unbeaten team after three rounds of matches.

The Army side continued their dominance in the second half with Jean Claude Iranzi, Charles Tibingana and Jean Baptist Mugiraneza all having their attempts miss narrowly.

Former AS Muhanga striker Ernest Sugira, Patrick Sibomana, Tibingana and Nova Bayana all had chances to score for the Army side but failed.

The win takes AS Kigali level on six points with APR at the top of the table until the champions Rayon Sports and Police FC play their matches on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Mukura Victory Sport continues their poor run after they lost to the visitors Etincelles 1-0 at Stade Kamena. Mukura won the first game of the league against AS Muhanga 4-0 but have now lost two in a row against Rubavu teams following defeat to Marines on the day two of the season.

Kiyovu Sports drew for the third time a row after the 1-1 stalemate against Gicumbi at Mumena stadium, while Espoir beat Marines 2-1 in Rubavu and Amagaju lost against newcomers Esperance 2-1.

Rayon aim for win over AS Muhanga

Defending champions Rayon Sports will go into their clash against AS Muhanga on Sunday looking for a win and move to the top of the table.

"We are looking forward to win the match and move up in the table standing,” Rayon French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa told Sunday Sport yesterday.

He added, "After drawing against Kiyovu (in the previous outing), we need the three points against AS Muhanga, who will be determined to upset us,”

We are confident we can do better against them because we have players, who know what to do, we need to calm and prepare ourselves against them”.
